Biography
Mrs. Fatema Abdulwahed M Al.Ahmed, RN, MSN, ANP-CNS is currently the Assistant Undersecretary for Human Resources and Services at Ministry of Health (MoH) in Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition, she had served in many ministerial, regional and international positions including Director of Human Resources at Ministry of Health, Nursing advisor at Minister’s Office, President of GCC Nursing Council, Chief Nurse, Board member of College of Health Science, Board member in National Health Regulatory Authority, Board member of American Mission Hospital, Nursing Faculty and Consultant for World Health Organization EMRO region.
She completed her undergraduate nursing education in Bahrain and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from the USA. In addition, she earned numerous academic qualifications from the USA & Europe in nursing education, human resource development, health care management, disaster and emergency management, research, policy and leadership. In recognition of her Academic achievements, she received two honorary academic distinction awards from His Majesty the King of Bahrain. At the International level she received Deans Award from Widener University-USA. Also, she obtained membership in Honor Society for International Scholars in recognition of her achievements in international education.
She has nearly 30 years of progressive career in the field of Health Care & Nursing with wide range of roles in Education, Services, Management and Regulation. During her work she has led successfully planning & implementing many Ministerial Projects and prepared the Plan for Human Resources for Health 2020. Also, she empowered and supported women at the Ministry, her efforts resulted in having women in 50% of senior management positions and 70% in middle management positions. She has established several academic programs at College of Health Sciences, and participated in updating Health Regulations. Also, she is chairing and member in many Ministerial & National committees i.e Chairing Ministerial Women Empowerment Committee, Chairing Ministerial Governance Committee.
